Fractional CTO
A fractional CTO you can actually trust.
You know your business. When the decisions turn technical, you need a leader who can make the tradeoffs clear in plain terms — and who sticks around to lead the team and ship the work.
People come to me for different reasons. Some have a process that's falling apart. Some need something built that doesn't exist. Some just need a website that doesn't embarrass them. Some need a technical partner who can help them navigate decisions.
I don't have 'productized services' with cute names. I have experience, capability, and the patience to understand what you're actually dealing with before proposing solutions.

Legacy Application Support
Your old system deserves better than neglect.
Microsoft Access databases, VBA applications, FileMaker, Classic ASP, VB6, FoxPro, ColdFusion, Lotus Notes. Battle-tested systems that have been running quietly for years. If you need an Access VBA developer who will actually respect your system, I'll get it into version control, document the business logic, build safe deployment pipelines, and design a migration path to modern platforms. Without disrupting what works.

How the work usually flows
Every engagement is different, but the pattern is similar.
We talk
A 15-20 minute conversation to understand what you're dealing with. No pitch, no pressure. Just getting oriented.
I dig in
Depending on complexity, I spend time understanding your current state. Sometimes this is a quick call. Sometimes it's a proper discovery engagement.
I propose
I tell you what I think should happen: scope, timeline, investment, trade-offs. You decide if it makes sense.
We build
Iterative work with regular communication. You see progress. You give feedback. The final product reflects reality, not assumptions.
You own it
Everything we build is yours—code, credentials, documentation. I help you understand it, and I stick around as long as you need me. If you don't, no hard feelings. You're never locked in.
Not sure what you need?
That's fine. Most people aren't.
Here's what I'd suggest: tell me what's frustrating you. What's taking too long. What keeps breaking. What you wish was different. We'll figure out together what kind of help makes sense.
Sometimes the answer is one of these services. Sometimes it's something else entirely. Sometimes the answer is 'you don't actually need me—here's what to do instead.'

Common questions
What kind of problems do you solve?
I fix the technical problems that small and mid-sized companies work around for years. The spreadsheet that runs the whole business. The process only one person understands. The system that breaks every time you try to grow. I find what is actually wrong, fix it, and build what is missing.
Who do you work with?
I work with small and mid-sized companies that depend on systems they have outgrown or are afraid to touch. Most of my clients are not technology businesses. They run real operations, the technology underneath got fragile over time, and they need someone senior to make it dependable again.
My system works but it is fragile and held together by one person. Can you help?
Yes. That is the most common situation I am called into. I learn how the system actually works, including the parts your team is nervous about, then I make it safer to run and change. The goal is a system the business can rely on without holding its breath.
Can you fix a system my business depends on?
Yes. I work on business-critical systems that have become slow, fragile, or risky, and I treat them with the respect they have earned. A system that kept a company running for years is an achievement, not a mess. I stabilize it, then lay out what to repair, what to replace, and what to leave alone.
Do you build custom tools and software?
Yes. When off-the-shelf software does not fit how your business actually runs, I build software that does. I focus on the work that removes daily friction or unlocks something you cannot do today, and I build it to be maintained for years, not just shipped once.
What is a fractional CTO, and do I need one?
A fractional CTO is a senior technology leader who works with your company part time instead of as a full-time hire. You get experienced technical judgment for the decisions that matter, without adding an executive salary to your books. It fits a growing business that needs direction on technology but is not ready for a full-time chief.
When should I bring you in?
Bring me in when a technology problem has real consequences and you have no one senior to own it. That covers a system you do not fully trust, a process that keeps breaking, a tool you need but cannot buy, or a decision you keep putting off because nobody on your team can make it.
How is this different from hiring an agency or a full-time developer?
An agency hands you deliverables and a developer hands you code. I take responsibility for the outcome. I learn your business first, build alongside what you already have instead of tearing it down, and stay accountable for whether the result actually works. You get a partner, not a vendor.
What does working with you look like?
We start with a conversation about what is broken or what you are trying to build. I learn how your business actually works, then I tell you plainly what I would do and why. Some engagements are a focused fix. Others are ongoing technical guidance. We scope it to what you are facing.
Ready to talk about your situation?
15-20 minutes. No pitch deck. Just a conversation to see if working together makes sense.
